Taiwan Explores Day 7: The nuaz days come to an end

Today was the last day for free-and-easiness a.k.a mad shopping. I will be going to Taipei's Sanmin community to help pack lunches and give deliveries the next day. So to commemorate this last shopping day, I decided to just nuaz at home.

I slept till near 1pm. Read abit of random manga. Watched running man. I slept till so late not because I was lazy know! Its so that I can hibernate past lunch time. Since Sonia (my project manager) was not home and I have no key, it means that if I went out for lunch, I cannot come back anymore. That means loitering around mrt stations, with my HEAVY luggage, which i think is now twice its original weight.)

I set off to dongwu university, thinking it would be a normal class where I just sit there and listen to people talk. Who knew I was the one who had to talk. When I reached the university (after painfully carrying my luggage up the bus, down the stairs and stuff), my new project manager Derek told me that the session requires the project TN to share about the projects, why they went for AIESEC exchange and their taiwan experiences so far. -Sonia did not tell me anything so I was thinking maybe I don't need to do a presentation since my project hasnt start yet-

Nonetheless, the typical A-type personality me thought I might as well research about Singapore as I waited for my EP buddy to finish his dinner. If I don't need to present I can use the research material for my cultural presentation at my project anywayz. I'm so glad I made this decision cuz this was what happen a few minutes before the session started

Peggy (AIESEC vice president): I'm so sorry Jocelyn, but can you give a presentation later? Angela and Josephina was supposed to do the presentation but they couldn't make it last minute.

Me: -nonchalently- ok. what do I need to present on? (Inner thoughts: of course this happens...)

Peggy: You just need to share about why you joined this exchange, what you feed about Taiwan and maybe about Singapore since you haven't start your project yet. Are you okay with this? so sorry about this last minute thing. You were supposed to just relax here

Me: -still nonchalently- no problems (Inner thought: -.-)

Me: #immediately search for more singapore related pictures and stuff

Yea, so after that, we had an icebreaker game. We had to write 5 things about ourselves on a piece of paper. Then fold it into an aeroplane and throw it away. After that we have to pick up a random aeroplane and guess the person based on the description. I didn't had my turn guessing -.- Didn't know anyone anywayz

Time for my sharing session. They have 2 rounds so I have to present twice. I crapped about the derivation of Singapore's name, the whole Sang nila utama folklore. Abit about the chope seat culture in Singapore, Singalish and random things I could thought of. Crapped the politically (typical) answer about why I chose Taiwan and went for AIESEC Exchange program. Afterwhich, there was some time left, so I stared at them with an awkward smile and ask them if they had any questions. Somehow I managed to last the whole 30minutes of sharing. Phew. So GLAD the AIESEC there had a must-speak-in-English rule!

I got into my permanent homestay. The place looks slightly old and shabby. Seems like the homestay doesnt have a showerhead so I had to bathe using the tapwater... I was shivering as I waited for the hot water to flow out. Brrr.

Weather's getting real cold here,
Jojo

P.s my fingers are freezing just from this post! BRRRRR
